Limited-edition collectors plates and figurines feature Grateful Dead singer/songwriter. Gartlan USA, America's foremost producer of limited-edition sports and entertainment collectibles will launch a series of new commemoratives featuring pop icon Jerry Garcia, announced R.H. Gartlan, president Gartlan USA, Inc.
Known for its extreme limited-editions and personally autographed pieces, this is Gartlan USA's first series to commemorate a personality posthumously, Gartlan says. "If ever there was an entity who commands a following loyal to a man, Jerry Garcia, in particular, and the Grateful Dead, in general do," Gartlan says, "This is a man and a band that has performed live in front of more people than any one in history...those people have now matured to a point where this type of product complements and embodies their love of Grateful Dead music."
The series features a 10 1/4'' collector plate featuring a 24-karat gold facsimile signature limited to a worldwide edition of 1,995 pieces; a nine-inch cold-cast figurine captures Garcia's inimitable on-stage style and trademark "Tiger" guitar. The figurine is limited to a worldwide edition of 1,995 and retails for $195; the plate for $125. Each of these pieces will feature 300 Artist Proofs, too.
Not only did Gartlan USA
work intimately with Grateful Dead Merchandising, but Deborah Koons Garcia
-- Jerry's widow -- was instrumental in directing art for the collection as
well as contributing mightily with information for the back stamps and certificates
of the plates and figurines respectively.
Gartlan USA has also announced a hanging figurine that is shipping in time for Christmas. The figurine, which measures at 4 inches, features Gartlan USA's trademarked Cold-Cast Crystalline, first featured in the Ringo Starr Christmas Ornament, which sold out in 1996.
The Garcia ornament features the same pose as in Jerry's Marquee figurine. The piece, as decorated -- red t-shirt, black pants, acoustic guitar -- was only produced through December 1997.
Also available is a custom display case featuring
brass appointments and mirror base framing a gold facsimile of Jerry's autograph.
The Jerry Garcia hanging figurine is great for Christmas or year-round. It

Original artwork for the collector plates has been crafted by Gartlan USA artist and noted portraitist Earl Parker; the figurines sculpted by Roger Sun.
