Gartlan USA Announces "Finely Tuned" Series of Mini Guitars

USA has announced the release of "Finely Tuned," a series of limited
edition, porcelain miniature guitars, designed after real life guitar models.
The first of the famous guitars commemorated in this series will be the legendary Martin D28 (pictured here) and Martin's top-of-the-line D45. Plans for additional models and brands include Gibson's "Lucille" and Les Paul guitars. All of the miniature guitars will be created at 1:5 scale (approximately 8 inches long) and are approved by and licensed with the respective guitar manufacturers. A matching guitar case will be available as an optional accessory. The limited edition guitars with certificates of authenticity will be available in early 2001. The company also plans artist proof versions of the guitars, which will be signed by industry notables and produced in very limited quantities.

Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, Lester Flatt and Gene Autry are closely associated with these Martin models. "The challenge this presented to us was that real fans - the ones we want to reach - can identify the unique features of these classic instruments from a mile away. For example, the Martin D45 is immediately recognizable with its solid spruce top and rosewood on the sides and back, the tortoise colored pickguard, the ebony fingerboard and bridge, and so on. We wouldn't have even gone into this product line if we couldn't recreate these guitar classics with exacting detail, and we relied heavily on the input from the guitar manufacturers to ensure the quality and accuracy of our products.
